How does South East Health work?

If you need medical assistance out-of-hours, you must first contact your surgery who will provide you with a recorded message and contact options for you to ring.

Once you have made contact with us, an operator will take your contact details and make a note of your symptoms.  This information will be passed on to one of our duty clinicians who will call you back.  The clinician will assess whether:

1. You need telephone advice
2. You should attend our Primary Care Centre
3. You require a home visit
4. You should call 999 or visit your nearest A&E

What advice will be given?

Our clinicians have many years experience and will be able to ascertain if your condition needs urgent attention or not.  Whenever possible you will be advised to visit our surgery.  Each centre is fully equipped and your doctor will be able to treat you more effectively here than in your home.
In very serious cases patients may be advised to contact 999 or visit their local A&E department.
Please note patients can only attend the Primary Care Centres if invited by a member of South East Health staff.

Will the doctor make home visits?

Yes.  A doctor will make home visits when a home visit is clinically necessary.
