 Between 2001 and 2006, Mary was a PCT Director working across two Primary Care Trusts, initially as Director of Rehabilitation and latterly as Director of Modernisation and Deputy Chief Executive covering the directorates of Primary Care, Commissioning, Operations and Human Resources. She has experience of developing community based rehabilitation services; integrated equipment services; single points of access to healthcare for community patients; acute demand management schemes. She also developed pooled budgets with the local authority and has managed two community hospitals and a wide range of community nursing and therapy services. With a background in occupational therapy, qualifying at the London College in 1978, she has extensive clinical and management experience covering general acute care; adult rehabilitation; learning disability and as a specialist in pediatric rehabilitation. She has additional qualifications in adult and pediatric neuro-rehabilitation; qualitative research; psychometric testing; clinical leadership and an MA in education. As well as working in the NHS in acute and community settings, she has worked in local authority social services and in the independent sector.
