1 April 2011 - South East Health Ltd / Northamptonshire Out of Hours and NHS Northamptonshire

As of Friday 1st April 2011 at 6.30pm, South East Health Ltd (SEHL) will take over the delivery of the GP Out of Hours service to the population of Northamptonshire. The new service will be called Northamptonshire Out of Hours.

South East Health Ltd and NHS Northamptonshire have worked closely over the last month to ensure that the implementation of the service runs as smoothly as possible. South East Health Ltd recognises the importance of a local, knowledgeable workforce delivering quality standards of care to patients and have therefore engaged with, and retained, local staff from the previous provider Nenedoc.

South East Health Ltd’s ethos as a company is to deliver quality services to the patients we serve, and to provide this in a way that supports real continuity between us and the local GPs providing ‘in hours’ services.

If you require a GP outside of normal opening hours, please contact Northamptonshire Out of Hours service. The service is available Mondays to Fridays from 6.30pm- 8am, and 24 hours a day on weekends and bank holidays.

The phone number for the service remains the same - 03336 664 664.

There are also other Out of Hours service providers for people who live on the county border. Patients living in Brackley and surrounding villages can also use Oxford Urgent Care Service on 0845 345 8995

Patients in the Oundle and Wansford area can also use the Peterborough based Out of Hours GP service – Pedoc – on 01733 293838.

Please contact Gilly Doré Comms Officer/Executive Assistant to Ron Owttrim, Chief Executive, South East Health Ltd on 07766952182 or gilly.dore@sehnp.nhs.uk for all press queries.

5 January 2011 – Pearl of an office for East Kent Locality

South East Health’s East Kent locality team has just completed their first quarter in their new premises in Estuary View, Whitstable.

The office now houses SEH’s six-strong IT team, a contact centre that operates at weekends in addition to the one in Ashford, administrative staff, and a pharmaceutical technician.

Explaining the rationale behind the move from Sarre, Mary Kitcher operations
manager for the East Kent locality says: “The new offices are very
much more in keeping with our needs. Very close to the Thanet Way, the premises provide easy access to the road system for journeys to other offices in the SEH operational area, such as Ashford. We are now enjoying working in these beautiful offices overlooking the Thames Estuary.”

The premises are shared with GP surgeries on the ground floor.

10 November 2010 – New website for Sussex patients

South East Health has launched an attractive and useful new website for the GP Led Health Centres at Eastbourne and Hastings.

See http://gplhc.southeasthealth.com where patients and professionals can find out about the wide range of health services offered, as well as opening hours and directions.

Both centres have 'open-door' policies, whereby non-registered patients can walk in and be seen by a GP or practice nurse within a couple of hours. Patients are also able to register with the centres to gain access to the wider range of general practice services and the option to book appointments.

South East Health is working to increase access to health services by the whole community.

25th October 2010 - New Operational Structure: Ashford Hub

Following the re-launch of the contact centres earlier this year, Ashford contact centre has now become the hub for Out of Hours contact activity. Alongside Ashford, there is the new contact centre at Whitstable, representing Eastern and Coastal Kent regional pod for the weekend teams that have moved from Sarre. The new contact centre management structure provides a busier, more enjoyable atmosphere for staff within the contact centres, with larger groups of people working together as a team to centralise and streamline the approach.

The launch of the regional pods is imminent; and development work has been carried out on our clinical management systems to support the concept of closely managing localities in conjunction with our front line operational staff. Establishing the regional pods will lead to control centre teams visiting reciprocal bases to meet base receptionists and drivers to develop strong links and helping to deliver outstanding patient care to specific areas. Two clinical management systems have been running side-by-side, new staff have been integrated and trained, and the resourcing model has been adapted to fit operational requirements and deliver a good standard of service to our patients.

Plans are also in place to launch quality and performance management programmes with training and development of staff the underpinning objective. These programmes will provide support and guidance from line managers, and the opportunities to share ideas as part of every day working life.

Every opportunity to set SEHL apart through the high standards delivered will be followed up. These are exciting times. SEHL is already attracting attention and some interesting new contracts are in the pipeline.
