South East Health's commercial sister company, South East Health Plus, manages the Trackside Pharmacy in Bexhill and Pharmacy@Station Plaza in Hastings.
Just like the big brand pharmacies at large city stations, these pharmacies capitalise on the centrality, high visibility and accessibility of a station location. They provide a convenient resource for commuters and regular travellers, as well as people living locally, and is accessible to a maximum number of patients and customers.
BexhillTrackside Pharmacy, so called because of its location in a former parcel room at Bexhill Station, is open 100 hours a week, every week of the year. Trackside provides over the counter and prescription medications and with two treatment rooms, it also has facilities for cardiac monitoring, dietary consultancy, cholesterol and other tests.
“This is such a high profile location that people will remember the pharmacy’s here – even when they’re not travelling,” says South East Health Plus Service Development Manager Lisa Phillimore. “Passenger takings and throughput at the station have increased by eight per cent in the last year, which has to be good news for us.”
HastingsA range of enhanced health services are provided by the Pharmacy@Station Plaza in Hastings, run by South East Health Plus, which opened in Summer 2010.
The Pharmacy offers all the usual services such as dispensing prescriptions, deliveries, expert advice but additionally emergency contraception, stop smoking support and much more.
Manager Craig McEwan said "The vision for this pharmacy is to provide services that meet the needs of local people, as well as working with GPs and other healthcare professionals to support patients with long-term conditions.”
Craig has a wealth of experience in community pharmacy both in East Sussex and further afield, and plans to use that learning to enhance and expand services in Trackside.??“We work closely with the four GP practices located at Station Plaza and support patients in getting the best out of their medicines. We’re pleased to welcome Manager Penny Clark and Pharmacists Ceri McEwan and Tin Chun Lee to further develop the team”, said Craig.
The Pharmacy is perfectly placed to serve the students and staff at Sussex Coast College, railway passengers, patients from the Health Centre next door and the population of Hastings.
